THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 2026 FROM 12 TO 1 PM

For survivors of gender-based violence (including domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking), Civil Protection Orders are an important safety planning tool. Unlike other legal remedies available to victims of these crimes, civil protection orders are survivor-driven, client-centered, and specifically tailored to the needs and dangers of the individual seeking one. This training will discuss the procedure for obtaining a civil protection order in Colorado, including new statutory updates that became effective in 2025, and how attorneys, non-attorney advocates, and pro se parties can access justice and court protection through this civil process. After this training, attorneys will be able to represent, consult, and assist survivor-clients with obtaining and enforcing civil protection orders. Non-attorney advocates will be able to guide, support, and spot legal issues for clients seeking civil protection orders.
